Default Auto box on GSI, that bad????

    Hello,

Will be changing up from my 99 CDX V6 to the 3.2 GSI soon. Really wouldn't mind trying an auto box but have not heard too many great things about them.

Are they really that bad? What are the main problems that can happen/look for and are there any fixes that Vaux applied to the box on newer models?

    Many thanks.

I wrote to Vx reg the Auto box this is the reply i got back (Auto box is mint)

Thank you for your email received on 27 May 2009, regarding your Vauxhall Vectra, registration number xxxxxxxxx

I was sorry to learn of your concerns regarding your vehicle's gearbox and I can certainly appreciate your reasons for contacting us.

I can confirm that we received isolated reports of premature failure of the radiator seals on Vauxhall Vectras registered in 2002 - 2003, therefore, a modified adapter nozzle and radiator ventilation hose were introduced onto all vehicles built on or after the 8 November 2003. A Customer Satisfaction Program was released in order to modify those vehicles with the original adapter nozzles.

In light of the above, I can also confirm that I have checked our recall database, which advises that your vehicle is not part of any rework or recall. I can also confirm that your vehicle was built on 18 November 2003, therefore, the modified parts will have been fitted at the factory prior to it's release.

However, if you wish for further peace of mind, I am confident that your local or preferred Vauxhall dealership will be willing to inspect your vehicle to confirm whether the vehicle has been correctly modified at the factory.

Thank you again for contacting us and for allowing me to comment upon this matter.

    Yours sincerely

Love my auto box mate, i wouldnt worry too much.

Put it into perspective, if you started a poll asking all owners who own an auto box if they have had any problems with a simple yes/no answer. I woud be suprised if the percentage of dodgy boxes was any where near as high as the ones having no problems.
