    confused CD70 and ECC...

Ok, from what I can gather, the CD70 units are plug and play in full canbus cars if the screen and head unit are kept together...? Assuming this is true, as I believe it is, what happens if you're taking one set out of an SRi model with AC, and putting it into an Elite model with Climate Control...?

The ECC uses the screen to display the temperatures selected etc, but is this programmed as part of the CD70 or the ECC unit itself...? I'd like to think it's just the ECC unit, and it simply sends a signal through the CANBUS to tell the display what to show, but you can never be sure with Vauxhall...

I am no expert but I can't think they'd make a different cd70 so it must be eec. AS you've said though, is that too simple an idea. If you fit the phone kit you don't need to change the cd70, i'd think it was the same thing?

That's what I'm hoping mate - I've got the kit to add an input into the CD70, and I want to try it in my current car but I know I'll be changing it for a Signum Elite towards the end of the year when I can find the right one, and don't want to be swapping the kit ofer again. So if I can just swap the head units and screens over it would be much easier...

Sure it will just be a simple swap. Have you got the day off? Only one way to find out!!!

I do have the day off (being gassed tommorrow though...) but I'm currently in my gf's flat in London, and flying back up to north scotland at lunchtime, so I may have a look at it tonight and see if I can get it working...

I don't miss being gassed at all! Just loved trying to screw that cannister back on! Do they still make you lay on the floor and pretend a nuclear explosion has just gone off? I could never work that one out!!! Anyway hop you get it sorted this evening.

Haven't done the Nuclear IA drill since Halton - and how many pellets they set off was usually inversely proportional to ho much you sponsored them for whatever insane physical event they were planning next...

As far as I am aware this should not present any issues...also if the head-unit and display are a matched pair, then you "should" be able to use the donor car's radio pass code to do any adjustments...better to divorce them with the old (donor) pass code, and then reinstall with the new car's pass code...this way you can program the BCM and CIM modules to accept any input signals. This would include any foibles / differences when changing from air con to Electronic Climate Control, wheel controls and so on.
