    Default Swirl valve actuator

As I mentioned in another thread, my swirl valve actuator rod is off and I am going to try the £1 "how to" fix. Just one question though to the guys that have done it - is the actuator rod straight? I ask this because it looks as if mine has a kink in it and the plastic cup at the end ( 4th one) sits about 1 cm higher than the other three. If I put it on a level surface the first 3 sit on the table but the 4th doesnt.

Can any one confirm before I get the straightening hammer out?

mmm cheers Dan but I am not so sure.

Did the £1 fix (98p actually :P) and the first three clip over the pins but the 4th slipped off the first time I revved the engine. Not 100% sure that I hadit on the pin in the first place to be honest so I will monitor it. Might have to take it off and give it a little bend to make sure it stays seated.

First class fix though - really impressed with the ingenuity pete_mc

just wanted to check the bend in the rod.

As I mentioned above the rod has a kink in it and if you sit it on a flat surface only 3 touch the surface and the 4th is about a quarter inch higher.

Checking a few threads and some piccies i get this >

    http://www.ms-motor-service.com/xima...093_en_web.pdf

If you look closely at the picture of the rod on page 2, the kink is between swirl valves 1 and 2.

    On this piccie >

    http://www.infrasolve.com/ABTEMP/oldinlet1.JPG

The kink is between swirls 3 and 4.

I originally thought that the kink should have been between 3 and 4 but 4 kept popping off. I turned it around last night and had to force it a bit but its on and seems to be attached to the valves.

Still not 100% so could someone clarify for me?

On another note - would my arguement with VX about a manifold replacement be blown out of the water cos I have done this repair?
