Car Pass

Hi, i dont know if this should be in this section, but basically, i bought my veccy last september, so its still under Warrantee and basically, i didnt get my car pass security codes. i checked through everything to find them but non of my documents hand anything on it, and i looked for that little card but again, no joy.

i phoned the dealer who i brought it from (Vauxhall in tamworth) and he said he'd get back to me.

what should i do if he turns around and tries to fob me off with a load od c**p

My friend had same problem with his Zafira GSi and was told he had to by a new head unit if he didn't want to pay for them to recode it... I say kick them in the nutts lol, as you bought it with a radio that works so surely by trading standards they would have to sort it out unless they told you that your warrenty is only for mechanical objects only.

Or do what my mate done and threaten them that you will go and speak to trade & standards, which might make them sort it as they won't want the bad name?

It's no sweat for them to get a new Car Pass for you and it should be FOC. If they still point blank refuse to get you one FOC and you're getting nowhere then you can still order one through a dealer (any one). All you need is the proof of ownership/proof of identity and it costs around £20 to get it.

wait for them to come back to you first!
if they dont - THEN you can escalate matters - no point going in heavy handed BEFORE they come back to you
if they havent got the codes - ASK if they completed the PDI (pre delivery inspection) for the vehicle - if they didnt then ASK for the selling dealers details
then contact them - at the PDI most dealers complete a form which shows the keys numbers and radio codes - this must be kept for a minimum of 5YEARS (data protection) and dependant on the dealers dealer management software - be it kalamazoo or kerridge there is a box for the info to be stored so they may have electronic access to it

cheers guys for your help, he left me a voice mail on my phone earlier and he said he will try and order one for me, didnt mention any charges so im guessing its free.

he said he will call me if and when he gets it.

hopefully it will be sorted, i just didnt know what to expect!!
