Walcott wont let the side down if he's given his chance.

Don't forget we are paying this man £4.5 million a year to pick these players.
    1. Walcott, no even ready for Arsenals 1st team.
    2. Rooney, broken foot, no chance.
    3. Owen, never been fit, never will be.
    4. Crouch, only played half a season for Liverpool.

Personally, I think it is a bit of an insult to pick a player in Walcott, who hasn't even played a Premiership game, in front of those who do it, week in, week out. Walcott, is not even used to the Premiership pace, so how for example, would he go on against Brazil ?

To me Sven has been a disaster and he has taken the p**s. Over 4 years he will have picked up £ 18 million in wages. Who could have been so stupid as to agree to that. His track record didn't merit that kind of money. No wonder the Premiership managers think he is c**p.

I'm a bit suprised by his choices myself

    Johnson
The Charlton defender, cant think of his name
    Wright Phillips

    Should all be in imo.

Surprised but not shocked about Walcott, he might turn out to be the star of the World Cup. Time will tell.
I am disappointed that he has not considered these:-
Darren Bent, even as a standby. A proven Premiership goalscorer and leading English player, 22 goals in 43 games. (i'm not a Charlton fan by the way)
Ledley King, a solid all rounder.
Andy Johnson, fast and agile. (at least he is on standby)
Shaun Wright Phillips, what waste of talent at Chelsea. should be in the 1st team.

Some of his choices really puzzle me (Crouch and Campbell to name 2) and i hope to be proved wrong.

For a start Ledley King should be going instead of Campbell.

Campbell has been good over the years but just recently his personal problems and lack of form for Arsenal would have put paid to any chances of going imo, it should be the other way round, Campbell should be on the reserve list and King should be in the full squad.

In the last few internationals, King has been playing that holding role in midfield that Sven seems to think that Steven Gerrard (world class attacking midfielder) is better in. , and whats more he has been playing well there (never lost a game when he's been in the side iirc).

Walcott is a huge gamble, he may well turn out to be the surprise package of the world cup, but it is a big risk and huge pressure to put on one so young.

As for the strikers, Owen is the logical choice even though he has not played much recently (remember what he did to Argentina after only 8 sub appearences for Madrid) and as for Rooney, he has to be fit for us to have any chance of doing well, the phsycological advantage he gives us is worth two men.

Looking at Svens strikers im wondering if he is getting a bung of the scottish FA/scottish public so they do rubbish this year

Seriously, its really only a preliminary squad so no need to panic yet, it might be a good bit of spin to get the flak away from the FA's farcical handling of appointing Steve Mclaren???

If they are all fit, owen and rooney will play with crouch as sub, isnt that how they have been playing against the likes of argentina in the friendly??

Does everyone remember the same sort of questions being asked about Owen in '98 and rooney in '04???? Give the boy a chance as obviously he has something special..

I'm going to upset a few people here probably - because I hate soccer-ball.

But here's my 2 pence worth anyway...

This soccer team needs scrapping - seriously - when were players like Owen / Rooney etc at their best? It was when they were 17 and 18 and were given their first REAL chance to prove themselves...

As soccer players get older, they fall into the proffessional attitude - "I'm gonna get paid £11m an hour even if I dont play" and that kinda cr4p...so they dont bother - they dont care!!!

I reckon taking this young lad would be good, if he had another 10 young lads playing with him, they would have nothing to lose, and would play their arshes off to try and get that £11m a nano second deal...

England supporters need to 'get over it' - England will not win the world cup again - for a long long time...no chance. So why not take a gamble...take a load of 17 year olds, we've nothing to lose. And what happens when you have nothing to lose? Ask Greece in the Euro Cup thingy the other year.....point proven.

Sorry about that, but thats what I believe.

p.s. Please dont mention 1966 anyone......that was then, and this is now......
