    Default Damn, somethings gone TWANG!

Today whilst driving home on fairly decent roads in a 30mph area, turned a left hand corner and TWANG from off side front. got out but no sign of anything obvious and the car still sits level, Is this the dreaded spring breakage? It seems its gonna be lowered sooner than i expected

Maybe. Normally just about 3 - 4" off the last coil breaks, so level doesn't look odd. A closer inspection is needed.

Got to be the spring mate, ive had 2 snap on me in the past, and the twang is quite distinctive.

In my case it was follwed by the sounds of metal being thrown on the floor!

It can also be a sign the spring seat mod needs doing. The dealers can fit a plastic sleeve to the bottom of the front springs to stop them catching on the bottom cup and releasing causing the "twang".

Think i heard a twang come from the rear of mine last week, but has been fine since, or so i think, must be a snapped spring by the soundings of this thread

Mine used to make more of "cuh clonk" than a twang. When it did go "twang" it had snapped lol

mine made lots of noises, after the car had been parked over nite i noticed front left was sat down so i jacked it up and sure enough it had snapped in two places so i had the excuse to buy the lowering kit
but i was not expecting that the front right had snapped (and had been for a long time looking at the state of the metal) And when i jacked the back up i then descoverd that one of the back was also snapped so i had 3 broken and i dont drive like a nutter i slow down over speed bumps and try to avoid the pot holes so why snap 3
