how about keeping it simple, when did the problems start? do you know when it was installed ?
try a system rollback to prior to the date of problems

great idea, but if you are unaware of the actual date of the infection, using system restore just gives any viruses placed in system restore more access to the system during the rollback. In turn causing more damage.

and also another big thanks from a very gratefull DAD...
you may find this useful, using your search engine look for 'ad-aware installation package' it's by a company called lavasoft, if you download the aniversary edition, then run it and it will find the virus and when the scan is done all you need to do is delete the virus, it acts as a one time scan cleaner, i had a virus and our i.t. guy at work recommened it, it was easy and did the job for free, beauty is once its downloaded you can use it as many times as you like. hope it helps.
