I have the cd70 monochrome version and want to upgrade to colour, if i was to buy a complete unit with screen from a 08 car will it fit my 54 signum, the screen is supposed to be bigger

The CID screen is bigger than the GID (Monochrome) with the CD70... you'd need a new centre surround. Is your's full or half canbus?? (Steering wheel controls Buttons or scroll wheels?)
Seeing as you have a CD70 already it must be full, but being a 54 plate, I thought they were all half canbus...?

But to answer your question...

If you got the CD70 and CID from the same car and both cars had the same spec... I.E if you have climate control, bluetooth etc and the other car didnt, you wont be able to use yours and as its paired with the other car, you wont be able to program it to add the features.

Also the facelift and prefacelift have different shaped vents, I cant remember which way round it is, but on one of them the corners are curved and the other is square...

Full canbus is to do with the wiring of the car I believe, more complex, more things paired etc... I'm sure someone will correct me.

If you look at your centre surround, are the top corners rounded or square? You just have to make sure that its the same as you have now, or you'll have a gap.

is there a massive difference between the 05 and 08 screen size, and does the colour screen on the 05 look similar to the 08 screen

All the CD70 CIDs are the same size, just the GID is a smaller screen. It may fit the vents you already have, but I'm pretty sure a few on here have had to get new surrounds when upgrading to a CID. I'm pretty sure the 05+ are the same screen. If you have a full canbus car and the car you have taken the CD70 and screen out of have the same setup, then it should work fine. It would be even better if they were divorced from the donor car.

When he says later large screen type, I think he means bigger than the CID for the NCDC series which I have, again, which is bigger than the GID. Maybe worth asking him what he means by that thou.

You should already have the GPS aerial etc in the car already, so it really could be just as easy as plug and play...

I'm a little worried thou, I'm not quite sure how it all works, but if the car had extras that your car doesnt and vice versa, what would happen, would you just have empty menus in places or would it throw up faults?? Hopefully someone else reading will jump in and answer that.
