Sounds like the good old spring breaking routine here - really common problem.

Dont know for sure what you are looking at to fix but around 200 green notes although may be cheaper.

whats going on ive had the car with the mechanic and he seem to think that there is a wheel bearing gone but he has to take the 4 wheels of to find out which one it is??????? ive told him that the front drivers side makes a crunch sound when you hit a bump????

can this actually be what is wrong

If your wheel bearing had gone " crunch " from the front, i dont think you could drive it..... a collapsed wheel bearing would make your wheel lie at an slight angle ?

Am i right or wrong ??

Its more likely to be the rad mounts or anti rollbar bushes/drop links.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

sorry to be a pain in the bum

the mechanic has got back to me and he has told me the only thing he can see wrong with the car is a wheel bearing gone on the drivers rear side , now he has actually heard the crunch noise himself he spent 6 hours looking and had all wheels off. should i get a second opinion on it.

good thing is he has not charged me the £16 ph he normally does

by the way is a wheel bearing hard to change (no knowledge of cars)

If it's a rear wheel: quite easy to change. And not that expensive.
Front wheel: NOT! Heavy tools are needed and the bearing itself cost a fortune...
