Default 2.2 dti limp and cut out

has anyone found a definate cure for this model going into limp mode, revs drop to tick over (lumpy) and cutting out, the spanner light comes on (not ecu light), happens completely at random, and 2 fault readers on it and a tech2 no fault shown each time, checked intercooler pipes, vac pipes, cleaned egr,egr not sticking, cleaned inlet manifold and swirl valves replaced beromic temp sensor (excuse spelling if incorrect), the turbo boost seems a bit stiff but not sure if it should be, can lever it with a screw driver but difficult by hand, when i come off throttle to change gear i can hear a very slight hiss from somewhere but seem to remember someone on here saying thats normal can someone confirm please, the cars a 2004 2.2dti with 56k, one other thing i have noticed is in the fuse box next to the battery there is a yellow relay that gets quite warm, help please as the thing is doing my nut it as i've already spent wads of cash on it and got no where, many thanks in advance.

Thats a tough one without any fault codes but it seems you have done the most likely things. Could it be poor fuel? Do you always fill up at the same place? Maybe try a different garage?
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

Have you had a tech 2 plugged in while the fault light is still lit? It maybe the only way if its not recording them. Mine doesn't seem to store codes either.

My 2.2dti has done this twice now since i bought it a month ago but at least with mine there seems to be a pattern to it.

Both times it has happened its been when i've doing 50 through roadworks & then floored it in 5th to speed back up to 70 - spanner light came on & all power disappeared.

Simple solution for me is not to put the pedal to the boards! It picks up quick enough using the cruise control buttons.

That could be an air leak so the o2 sensors go out of range as they cannot adjust the fueling enough. But could equally be something else
