2.2 direct engine noise

Sorry if this has been asked before, ive been searching the site but couldnt find anything conclusive so thought id put a vid up and see what you think!

My car is a 2004 2.2 direct sxi.

Only does it when the engine's cold and stops when the temp gauge gets to 80. appart from this the cars driving fine.

Do i need a new timing chain? lifters? oil change? (which i think is soon due anyway)

Any help very much appreiciated as if it is something serious..i want to nip it in the bud before it gets worse!!!

Does the sound change with revs?

Yes, it gets more frequent..still no patten to the noise though..still quite random!

I think mine sounds noisy on some days, then other days its quiet, gonna do a service this weekend, so hopefully will sound good after that

Does the noise stop when you open the oil filler cap while the car is running?

No, still does it...when the lid was off..it seemed to be sucking air in through the filler hole..is that normal?!

Well that rules out the Crankcase pressure control valve and yep thats normal. Have you posted the vid on the 2.2 forum mate, they will know for sure. It could be anything from chain to needing a new manifold gasket. The site is called z22se.co.uk. This is my vid of a sticky hydraulic lifter, it goes after a few seconds.
