    Default Not another Tyre Thread!!

    Sorry!!

Does it matter if i go from a 91W Tyre to a 91V tyre??? its just that V Tyres are around half the price of the W Tyres!!

Will it really be any problem??

If Y is what was on the tyres that would have been factory fitted then you shouldn't drop down to W - opening yourself up to a can of worms if you have an accident and an astute assessor is one for checking stuff like that.

If the Y tyres that you have now weren't the factory fit, or the same as what a factory fit was, then would be worth finding out what tyres would've been on from the factory and what the speed rating on them was. It may be that it was only W and so you'd be okay.

He wants to go to a V from a W so its a lower rated tyre. Still, what you said still applies
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

Hang on, he's edited his post! It clearly said...

Does it matter if i go from a Y Tyre to a W tyre??? its just that W Tyres are around half the price of the Y Tyres!!

..as I've just looked at the post history and that's what was typed originally - but yes, the same applies with his edited version.

EDIT: Aha, he beat me to it!

    There are several other considerations
If the car was built in Germany, then it may still have its EU Certificate of Conformity
Consult this to see what the minimum speed and load rating is
    For my Vectra 3.0 V6 CDTI it is 215/55R16 89H or 215/50R17 91H

lol, you're right! After the long day I've had (up at 5.30am!), and if I couldn't see all the post edits, I'd have probably believed you all if you were saying that I must have been mistaken and it was typed as it is now all along! lol
