Default I need 2 new tyres, any recommendations?

I need two tyres for the front on my Vec.
I'm changing from the 215/50/17 to the 225/45/17.

Can someone recommend me a good tyre in the £60 to £80 range?
Looking for a tyre for a quiet/comfortable ride.

Also does anyone now of a good fitter/mobile fitter in the Tyneside area?

Round here (Brum) its anything from £7.00 to £15.00 per corner fitted and balanced!

Go to Great North Tyres mate at the Gateshead end of the Tyne bridge. My brother has just had 2 Kumho KU31s fitted at £63 each for 225/45/17s. I am thinking about going back to 215/50 size and he can supply and fit for £73. He's called Harry and he is a top bloke.

I had problems with balancing few years ago and went to TAM tyres in Dunston as they have state of the art Hunter balancing machine. They were the only ones who could sort balnace out at £4 a corner. The lad said he would fit and balance customer's own tyre for £8 each.

    Hope this helps

I've got two Barum's 225/45/17's on the front of mine, not my first choice but stuck at the tyre fitters with two dead tyres Quite surprised how good they are, or maybe the NCT's where just not very good.

The only thing I can say to you is get the best you can afford. Buy cheap and they'll be noisy or have no grip! If you buy cheap you will regret it, I have.
