    Default

Run flat is exactly that - they're designed to still let you drive if you've got a puncture - usually at reduced speed and for limited distance.

XL is to do with the load rating, needed for heavier cars like the 3.0CDTi.

When you have run the runflat with a puncture you have to get a new tire as they are not good to repair.

    Run flat :
    These tyres cannot be repaired
They are also a harder construction material, great for life expectancy (high mileage), but generally poor in wet conditions
Ironically, although they may last longer in general use, it is possible to have failure after just 1 day!
For this reason many owners with these tyres either swap over to standard tyres or purchase tyre insurance

    XL :
    Also known as reinforced
These are designed for heavier cars
Their construction is different from standard tyres, using four materials as against the usual five
They also need a higher tyre pressure
This results in a rigid dynamic and hard ride
