Default Intermittent limp mode on 2.2DTi

Vlad The Impaler is back. This time with more torturing.

My mother has been getting an intermittent spanner light and limp mode on lately. No idea why. The car doesn't smoke, seems be a bit heavier on fuel though. Trip computer is telling us the car is doing 30mpg of mixed driving.

Today while I was driving it the emissions light came on and wouldn't reset. Limp mode occasionally, mostly when in slow traffic or when the engine is left idling for a longer period of time (3min).

Could it be the EGR finally packing up? 111k miles (nearly 180k km)
Something similar occured when it had a split boost hose in October 2008 at 103k.

THERE IS NO FAULT CODE STORED!!!!

Check your vacuum hose connection,s for splitting .
If this is not the problem then give the EGR valve a clean along with the boost sensor .

Vacuum hoses seem to be fine to me, they feel nice solid. Will give the EGR and Boost sensor a clean soon.
No limp mode today though. The car ran like a dream with full power

I had the same, finally tracked it down to the Boost sensor. Cleaned it then replaced it, no probs since.

been having same problem with mine, had it at vauxhall they couldn't find anything wrong with it, been going on for months, drives brilliant then just goes into limp mode and goes to a lumpy tickover and eventually dies, i take the key out, lock it, unlock and restart then it goes back to normal for a short while and does it again, any suggestions would be great.

The last few days it was horrible to drive. It lost most of it's power even when not in limp mode. Would eventually go into limp mode if more throttle was used.
Checked the boost, vacuum hoses again and the one behind the turbo was very loose.

    All is well now
