    Default Temp Sensor

According to my temp sensor, the temp for the last few weeks has been
+87deg C. Now, obviously it is faulty, but any ideas as to what part? The resistance of the temp sensor varies with the temp( connected it to an Ohmeter and it varies with the temp......)
I'm due in for the 60,000 mile service within the next month, so I'll get the mainstealers to sort it out then, just thought i'd put this one to you as someone may have an easy/obvious fix.

P.S. On another thread can anyone let me know what I should ask to be done/looked at one the 60,000 mile service? As this will effectivly be the end of my warranttee, i need to get anything that can go wrong sorted before it does!!!

P.S. If any moderators would like to copy this to any service related threads then please do, as I can't seen to find one on any regular service related issues. :-) Cheers Guys.

    Live long and prosper,

    Ghostrider..

Mines was stuck at about 70C since I got it, fixed under warranty in less than an hour no bother, just a replacement sensor

cant you borrow a sensor from another vauxhall owner just to see if it your sensor thats faulty , i dont reckon they are that expensive , got to be cheaper that dealer checking it.

sensor failure is commonplace.. it's clipped to the inside of the front lower grille.. for some reason they all fail high/open circiut.. replacement is a five minute job, just a plug and a clip.

They sometimes just need resetting or recalibrating, especially after a service, not sure what they do that throws them off but had the problem on my Astra and again on this Vectra.

Vauxhall thermometers seem to have always been s**t, my '96 Astra's was all over the place, I thought maybe they had got better when unbeliavably I had the one in the Corsa for three years and not a single fault, but lo and behold the Vec proved they were still awful! My friend has just got use of an old 96' Astra the reading isnt even wrong its just --.-
    Very helpful!
