    confused claying question

    evening, when i bought the mcguires clay kit i used all of the quick detailer and still have a clay bar left, is there another solution you can use as i have been to halfords and they dont sell quick detailer? will halfords sell someting similar on there shelf??? thanks in advance

    You could try car shampoo/wash. All you need is a good lubricant to stop the clay bar from sticking to the paintwork. I have tried shampoo/wash. It does work, but not as good but give it a try. Put plenty od soap/shampoo in the "mix" with water and see how it goes. As long as the clay doesn,t "drag" ( start to leave bits stuck to the paint) then you should be ok.

    Most spray detailers or detailing lube will do! There are quite a few clays out there which are very soft and you can just use water with them...these are always worth the investment i've found as they do the job abit better than the clay kit as they are softer.

    being nieve i thought your had to soften the sap, tar etc with the detailer, how will car shampoo do that????

    the detaailer is simply a lube... the clay is what lifts and traps the contaminents.. the quick detailer doesnt do anything but help the clay 'glide' over the surface of the paint

    i use bilt hamber clay bar which only requires water mate although i make sure panels are soaking so theres no drag,ive used megs clay in the past and it does require quick detailer too lube it,i bought some carplan demon shine QD at the weeken d for a fiver out of tesco and it would be fine for your lubunig requirements hth mate

    m8 - I use megs clay and I mix up a solution of shampoo and water and it works gr8.
