Default Must be a one off!!

My mate had a company car-Vectra SRI CDTI 150 Estate on an 06-reg, and it went back yesterday after its 3 year lease was up.

I must say I was totally impressed with its relaibility! As said, he has had it 3-years, and in that time he has had NONE of the main problems with it at all.

The ONLY things that have gone wrong on it that was quite significant were:
    - The Rear Window problem, when the alarm keeps going off and the Safeguard on the display; and
    - He somehow got a whole in his CAT box which he later manually sealed back up to get rid of the spanner light with emissions problem.

He has done 105,000 miles in 3-years in it and believe you me-he drives like a , and he carry a full load of tools and 2 sets of ladders on the roof!

I actually said to him that he must have been lucky and actually got one that Vx made properly to not have any major issues over 3-years.

Its had all its usual servicing and maintenance, but hadnt even had its cambelt yet, which was even more surprising.

So there you have it, Vx actually do make a Vectra that doesnt break. Just thought I would share the Vectra's reliability with you.

Anybody else in a similar situation, or is this strictly a one-off??

    Bye bye Vec B

I just read that mate, after putting up this post. I am dead serious mate.

I have driven the Vec over 3 years here and there and he has thrashed that car and still it kept on going. I dont know how much life its got left in it but its served its purpose very very well over its 3-years in the company!

I read yours and I couldnt beleive the two contrasting views!

I actually owned a Vec-C aswell during 2008 and I spent soo much money on it, one thing after another, about £800-£1000.00 in 6 months, then lost £2k on it just to get shot of it and not spend anymore on it! Funny thing is, the chap I sold it to....I saw him about a month ago and he said the car is absolutely spot on, I was thinking-I should think so too the amount of work I did to it!

So do I, and my comments to him were just that! The comment I got in return were: its had one very careful owner.... I just had to !

I bet someone ends up with it on here, if it does, I will just !!

It went for its MOT last week before it went back and I couldnt beleive it passed with no advisories....and that was from Vx stealers too! But it did have a full Service & Maintenance pack on it so what wouldve gone wrong should hopefully have been put right. So a credit to Vx Star City in Birmingham I guess??

If they have been looked after properly from day 1 (and driven right i.e. not driving miss daisy) then I really can't see why the CDTi 150 can't last that long without problems.

Its only 2nd hand (even ex-demo) when you don't know how its been treated where the problems come from IMO (plus the odd friday afternoon car ).

Yep, I've had four 1.9 CDTi 150's. the only issue I have had is my current one with two dodgy injectors.

Other than that my 1.9's have been perfect, and I do 30,000 miles a year.

There are way more 1.9's out there that have never had a problem than those that have.
