    Default Alloys and Tyres

    Hi guys

Currently I have standard 17" SRi alloys with 215/50 17 tyres on them, I have been looking at getting some new alloys of which I think I have found some 2nd hand pair but they have 205/45 17 tyres on one pair and 225/45 17 on the other (the seller says that the later pair are used on the Front / Rear wheels respectively on his astra)

will this set up be ok to run with my 2002 2.2 SRi until I can afford to get some new tyres for them in a few months

    Cheers

Ok, so I am going to need new tyres to replace the smaller tyres

surly there isn’t much difference between 225/45/17 and 215/50/17, is there anywhere (website link would be good) where I could find out the difference

    cheers

That isn't going to throw it out very much at all, not enough to worry about anyway.

The 225 are not a problem, not sure about the 205's.

Cheers, just checked it out there is a 2.08% difference between 215/50/17 and 225/45/17 so alls good there, yeh defiantly going to change the 205/45/17 as that is just too small, it would look like my springs would have gone lol

A lot of people on here have changed their 215/50/17 tyres for the alternate size that is mentioned in the handbook - that being 225/45/17. Main reason is there is a bigger variety to choose from and thus making them cheaper to buy.
