Default How easy to get a new 2nd key?

Hi, just wondering how easy (or hard) it is to sort a new key for my 55 plate vec as it only came with the one key. I dont have the pass card thing either, will this matter?

Dont much relish the thought of losing my one and only key, i suspect that equals a world of pain and expense?........

Get a passcard anyway -it has lots of potentially useful info like your radio passcode. You may well need it to progam a new key. I think they cost about £10 and your dealer will probably want to see proof of ID and proof of ownership - call them to check before you go.

There have been quite a few people on here recently asking about new keys. A quick search should turn some posts up or there'll probably be someone along in a minute who knows exactly which keys you can have, how much they cost, and where you can get them from.

£100ish for the key and they may charge you £25 for the car pass.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

Hi yes you can buy a new flip key from VX. And yes you will need the car pass. You can get this from VX . Take you logbook and they will order a new pass with all codes for the car it will be about £25 . The key is about £45 and it will have to be programed with tech 2 at a cost .

Have the cards have gone up a lot recently? I'm sure I paid about £10-15 for mine a few years ago.

thats cool, i thought once the pass was gone it was game over and you couldnt get another. Might be able to get some discount on a key and pass at work as we are in the trade club.

Will the coding of the key have to be done via a laptop or similar like tech2 or is it just a case of some button pressing sequences?

I just ordered a new car pass for this reason today. Was just over £20, had to show the v5 and fill in a security form. Will get it within 2 weeks.
