Friday and saturday at the Free Brentwood show .
Friday started with the Head Scout Dean(Plasma) sussing out the lay of the land and meeting the organiser Geof.
All sounded good, headed off about 5.30 and got stuck in traffic,Dean then advised me about long hold ups at road works in Brentwood. So Dean being the knda guy he is said he would try and find the back roads that lead to the Brook street roundabout and meet me there .I got to the petrol station there and filled up ,and waited and waited and waited hmmmmmmmmmm.I called Dean and heard mutterings and grumblings and a few unprintable words and founf out the back road he took lead him 6 miles in the wrong direction ( sorry DEan just hd to mention this ) I said i would just head off for the campsite and meet him later. I drove up the road to Brentwood , hmmmmmmm not traffic no roadworks .got to the campsite and when Dean finally turned up he had Donpaul in tow. I asked Dean where the heck the roadworks were ,he replied you must of driven through them we just did . It transpired that Dean had driven straight past the turning he was suppose to take and then make a 2 mile loop back to road he should of been on .
Heres the point i wont mention that i had taken the wrong turning on the campsite and gayly headed off to where i thought we were only to find i was completely on the wrong side of the site with lots of orange barriers in the way
Heres a few piccies of the hardy campers and our set up.
Campers being .Soulman(ian) Plasma(Dean)Donpaul(Paul) Jaykay(jon) and TeamTom(Tom)
We even had our own entertainment for the evening ,their sound system was working well at this point, unfortunately for the lads the system started failing saturday and Sunday(felt real gutted for them)
The band finished about 10,15 after a few oncores from us .So we had an arty picture session .heres just a few .
And my favourite one ,looks like something from the Close Encounters of the Third kind film
We then settled down for a quiet drink and banter for a couple of hours, then after me and Paul had down our obligatory night night phone calls to our better halves ,I pottered off to bed (cos I,m the old one ) The others stayed up and knocked bk a few more bottles and tinnies, then they too headed off to thier tents for the night .
All in all I think we all had a good night sleep despite the local firebrigade getting a callout ,then the odd snore and fart here and there .
I woke up about 5.30 to this sight .
Although it clouded over a bit later the sun came back out when Tadders turned up first (well he did keep promising us sunshine).
Others duly followed (not sure in which order) but there was Bobsignum,Tony(the caravanner) and crew,Mark(the cabby) Mandy(mrs mark the cabby) ( Dean and I felt the Insignia should get pride of place at the front) Glynn and family. Then last but not least Duncan and Cameron(Duncans car not as dirty as he thought it was going to be was allowed on the stand)
There were a few no shows for one reason or other (their loss)
Whilst everyone had been arriving Dean and Tom had set about dropping Tadders roof lining to fit his aluminated sun visors and try and find the fault with one of Tadders looms(you know the one he had accidently butchered with a stanly knife.
There is another piccie but this will be a caption photo later
Once all the events started the day just flew by ...
It wasn't till the following day i realised i hadn't taken photos of the complete line up ( DOH)
I think I managed to sit down and relax about 3 o'clock .
Right next to our stand there was a stage set up for a dance school ,thought it was going to be some little girls in tootoo's doing bally dancing or something ,but we were treated to about an hour and fifteen minutes of youngsters performing break dancing ,body bopping alaa B.G.T winners Diversity ...FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!..loved the music and loved the performance .
Soon it was 5 o'clock and ppl started driving off home (Hopefully they all had enjoyed their FREE show )
The 5 campers again had a nice meal a few beers and great laugh that night .Paul thought it would be a great time to try out some canuba wax he had bought from Autosmart who were at the show(£9 for a biggish tub).
Well he and Jaykay just about started then it piddled down with rain (this was after Paul had assured us that the clouds were to HIGH for RAIN}
So it was back to the gaziboos after frantically tryng to get the wax off.
After about 10 mins we realised Jons gaziboo wasn,t actually water proof, when you shown a torch you got see a fine spray of water ,so everyone moved into Deans to keep dry.
Sundays write up will follow later
Hope you enjoyed )
