    Default Need a Van

My son had an accident last Monday morning, an uninsured woman pulled out straight into the side of my sons VW Caddy, she was arrested, both my sons van and her car were a write-off. My son is a tyler and has no mode of transport now appart from Bumming a lift off anyone who can help. His boss will only get 3,200 from the insurance and that has to pay of the finance, so, can anyone on here help point me in the direction of a solution, whether it be towards a van of same sort of size and quality or towards a way of getting some money out of the uninsured driver. He is already having to turn down work and in this economic climate that is not good as he has built up a good reputation in his field.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers for reading.

can't he rent a van in the meantime and claim the costs off his insurance?

longer term, if the insurance money will pay of the finance could he not then finance a replacement van?

sorry to hear what happened, hope they throw the book at her for being uninsured.

surely she can be sued for criminal damages? after all she is under law to have insurance. so she shouldent have a leg to stand on, also she would also be liable to cover the legal costs if you get a good lawyer. Press charges, i certainly would! Teach ****** unisured drivers a lesson one at a time!

also, im not saying to "make anything up" but make sure if your son has the smallest twinge in his neck or say cant get in a VW anymore then make sure you put it down. PTS is where you get most of your money from a claim i found out to my misfortune (safeguard, i cant get in any small cars with out freeking out) thus why im age 19 with a massive vectra!!

Is there not some Uninsured motorists bureau or some name like that which looks after the victims of accidents caused by uninsured drivers? I think it used to take a lot longer to get anything but its still better than nothing.

If you are not to blame, then surely your own insurance company will claims it all back off the non insured loss funds?

i think that is correct however you lose your no claims bonus and excess until the claim is finilised my daughter was involved in a RTA involving a horse, the car was a write off http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showth...t=81631&page=2 no one has come forward to accept ownership so she has lost her no claims bonus plus her excess (£400) the insurance co made an offer yesterday but this will leave her £1000 out of pocket and her ncb will be lost .
