    Default Black paint

I have a Vectra with black paint and last week I spent ages cleaning it. Washed it,dried, clayed, washed, dried,Meguiars stage 1 (cleaner),buffed,Meguiars stage 2 (polish),buffed, then used P21 to seal (didnt have any wax left!). However, when finishing off, there is a sort of 'haze' left within the paint (if that makes any sense?). The only way of improving this, was to use a lot of pressure when buffing, but I couldnt remove it totally. Is there any reason for this? The car is around 5 years old

are you sure the other stages of cleaning were completely removed before waxing?

Yep. I noticed it a while back, but it could ultimately be a **** paint job. I also have a slightyl rippled effect on the roof but the car has no signs of any respraying.Going by the problems Ive had with it, its probably a 'Friday' car

We had something similar on my mrs black vec, had to polish it like mad to get rid of it and it was only on one panel. Its like a milky glaze over the paint isn't it?

That could be the reason......being over generous with the stuff !!! Never thought about that before. It seemed to be like cloudy patches 'in' the paint. If you rub really hard, they shift, but not 100%. Thanks for the inputs

You could be taking about swirl marks or holograms. These will be more visible when your car becomes very shiney. They are caused by people washing their cars with sponges and single bucket etc...

A machine polish/correction would definatly get that out mate
