    Default Direct or not

    Can someone explain the difference between the direct and non direct engined cars, thanks.

    the direct has its fuel injected direct into the cylinder where the non direct has its fuel injected into the inlet manifold

    You get a better burn with the direct so slightly better power and MPG but a hefty bill when the directs fuel pump goes, and yes it will go.

    Yep in a big way. It was even featured on BBC watchdog. The normal 2.2 does not suffer from this problem, only the direct.

    Random cutting out IIRC, sometimes when you're driving along as well!

    Wonder if that's what's wrong with mine (see my post in Troubleshooting ). Will find out later today (hopefully) when the garage report back.
