help! any ideas?

1.9 cdti 120
hey guys, looking for ideas or if anybody has
experienced anything similar.
traveled to france, 4 adults and baby. fair amount
of luggage split between boot and roof box.
car now sitting on back of recovery truck as black smoke
flying out of exhaust, lost turbo and car now has
hardly any power to make it up recovery ramp.
any ides appreciatey

Either the egr valve has croaked it or the turbo is gone. Hope its the latter.

Think black smoke signifies power air/fuel mixture ie very rich.

Hope you get it sorted quickly and cheap.

sounds like the egr valve and they are common as hell 2

thanks guys,

only got the egr valve cleaned a week ago on wed before i left. the recovery guy said it might have been the drag on the top box which has caused the turbo to croak it. the other recovery driver thinks its maybe an injector.

what kind of costs would i be looking at?

oh and has anybody ever had to instruct a recovery driver to pull over and demand to get the car and passengers off on the motorway at half 2 in the morning? we did after the driver started to fall asleep or something and was swerving from hard shoulder to middle lane and taking out about 10 traffic cones at one point.

Don't you mean hope it's the former (not latter)? EGR valve will be much cheaper and easier to replace than the turbo.
