    Default vectra 2.2 petrol

evening all ive got a couple of questions regarding my vectra c on a 52 plate,
the first being when i switch the ignition on a car and spanner shows on dash if i wait 2 mins the light will go out and not return until engine is switched off and on again then it does the same thing,is this something serious or is it because of stored fault codes?it does not stay on while driving
if it is because of fault codes would resetting the battery clear them?
also what do i do reguarding disconecting the battery just take the leads off with ignition off or will that set the alarm off?
and last one when the engine is warm on idle the revs drop and the car comes close to cutting out would this be egr or icv
i know its a bit of a list but any help will be great as i really like the car and want it running properly manythanks

Mine does exactly the same with the spammer on the dash, im told its because of an old fault code...but could be wrong. Had it plugged in and nothing game up.

Took the leads off the battery for 20 mins to reset it but it still happens, maybe some else can advise you better as i myself would like to know how to get rid of it.

The 2.2 doesn't have a ICV. Its more than likely that when the air/fuel mix changes (choke) when the engine gets warm then the butterfly is closing and because of a build up of dirt/oil on the butterfly its trying to cut off its air supply. Best bet is to take off and clean the TB mate, its a very common issue with the 2.2's TB

Think something like 20 starts without any faults will auto clear the dash by the way.

Its possible. Best to look at the free/cheapest option first, that being the cleaning of the TB. The EGR on the 2.2 petrol can be disabled, either by dealer (£50) or by plugging in a little box of tricks (£10-£15) so thats not to much of a problem to sort out. If you wish you can blank off a working EGR with a VX blanking plate, it still actuates but doesn't let any exhaust unto the inlet.

The little black thing at the bottom is the blanking plate, it only costs about £5 from the dealer.
