Bets its a brake light, the canbus system compensates and puts another bulb on so you still have one either side.

Or a bulb is imminently about to fail. Resistance changes just enough to put the fault light on, but remains lit just that bit longer before going pop.

If your car had the check control system then it would tell you which bulb it was.

Had mine come on today with a picture telling me the offside brakelight had failed. Sure enough it had, and the lower side light bulb took over the role of tail/brake light. Took both light assemblies out, nicked the non working fog light bulb and used that for now until I get a replacement.

Mine's good - it actually tells me which bulb is out on the CID... Even if it's the darn front fog lights which I don't use...

They shouldn't blow if you don't use them

I think the Spanner light beats the bulb warning at least you know its not that much to fix and you only need to spend alittle time finding it.

If its the spanner it could cost you a bomb and not know were the fault is

Don't ask me how - they just did from when I bought the car to start with... Every single time i started it it insisted on telling you that both were out, indivually.... Ended up replacing them jsut to get rid of the warning...

My Siggy kept whingeing about one of the sidelight bulbs that was working perfectly. It would often come on or off when you went over a bump.
Replacing the bulb fixed it, and when I took the old one out I gave it the old "flick" test and the filament broke, so I guess an intermittent, slow failure will still cause a warning.

It could be a failing numberplate light... often overlooked when checking for a bulb out.
