    Default Home Energy Supplier ?

Looking at changing home energy suppliers to one company rather than 2 seperate one's.

Who is the best for service and value for money.

Would prefer to stick with either nPower or British Gas, but am open to your comments.

    Thanks.

Had so many issues with british gas you would not believe, it was fine when i was with them, when i tried to move away they kept sending me bill after bill after bill when we had cancelled it. Still getting them now, 24 months on. Even had someone come round to cut us off! Npower/Eon would get my vote

I work for British Gas and I know this may seem baised but BG are the cheapest on the market right now. I know they have a bad rep, but thats mostly down to media. There always gonna be issues/horror stories whatever company you go with.

There a is good reason BG hold more customers than most of the competators put together.
Look up Websaver 3, cheapest tariff in UK by a good margin, but some of the "big" comparison sites dont feature BG or rate them low as BG dont pay them commission.

Cossy, if you wanna PM me your BG account number, i'll see what i can do.

If you use an online comparison site such as U Switch, that will tell you your best options, the suppliers are also rated for customer service. hth

Ill dig an old bill out, no matter how many times they confirmed that i'm no longer a customer of theirs, they still send another bill! lol Im hoping its all resolved now, as its been a while since the last bill but the fact it all happened in the first place and went on for so long with BG saying it was all resolved (and then the cut off notice came) blew any chances of me returning to them in the future. Cant argue the prices/tariffs they offer, but the customer services and "state of the art computer system" let them down in a big way in my case im afraid to say.

be careful it's not allways cheaper to get your bills from 1 company.

try moneysavingexpert. best advise you will get.

I had an awaful experience with British Gas too. Charging us for someone elses debt and refusing to refund us what we put into the meter (when we had one). Their Customer service are about as empathetic as a dead tortoise and more than once accused me of being the person who ran the debt up despite us not moving in til after the debt was accrued, on more than one occassion we topped up and the machine ate all the credit for the debt which was owed and it took them over a month to come out and reset the machine correctly. Now with Powergen - dont know whether they are the cheapest or not but I would rather pay for a good service that I receive than pay them halfwits for a service I dont. Sorry Netstar no personal insult intended
