Yes, they do use the car pass as well. It will also be on your V5 document as well TelBoy.

On the topic of engine numbers, I have just had my engine replaced with a complete new one which has a different number, but when I went to my local dealer to get them to put a comment in the service book they refussed
I have received no paperwork what so ever from Vauxhall with this engine and now don't know where I stand regarding my warentry? do I get a year on this new engine or does it expire with the main warentry which is November this year?
I will have to contact Vauxhall customer services again as this isn't a very proffessional way to do busness? What do you think?

I'm not 100% about this, but when my car went for inspection the mechanic grumbled he wasn't going to go trawling around the engine for it's number as according to him it's very hard to see, I took this as it's the only place you will find the number, could be wrong though, anyway it looks like you will need to get the new number either from the dealer who replaced the engine or look for it on the block yourself, and then inform Swansea of the change.

ANY replacement part fitted by a VX dealer to your car will have a 12 month warranty on it.. I had a VX waterpump fail, they replaced it with a new part and insisted on fitting it for free..

Fraid not.. It was on my V6, so wasn't connected to the timing belt as it's driven from the serpentine belt.. still it's only £80 for the genuine kit.. and it's a doddle to fit.. when you've done one the next 20 odd are sooo easy..

Only got 4,000 more till the GSi gets a new belt, and a new How To..

I wouldn't do a how to unless you put a big warning on it, big money if ppl get it wrong on a V6, and it might make a rod for ya that ya dont want or need, seen a few of em slip and mangle the valves before.
