Default Anyone had a split air intake pipe from MAF?

I've got a split air intake pipe on the engine side (1.9 CDTi 150) of the MAF which has a temporary repair on it, but the repair is really poor and really needs the pipe replacing because the tape used has holes in it and has started to unwrap.

What symptoms have other pepople with a similar split experienced??

I'm hoping that my car fault is due to this split pipe. I'm experiencing normal acceleration up to about 3,500rpm where the fault light comes on and goes into limp mode. Are these symptoms consistent with this pipe crack??

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this is my only fault and nothing more sinister will be revealed .

I believe you are right mate.
As the sensor will "sense" that the flow is not accurate or what is required then it will pop you into limp mode.
I bet youll be fine and that its just the pipe lad!

I dont think it will be, but if it is, you have my permission to hunt me down and annihilate me with a home made flame thrower of some discription....
Im feeling lucky and think you'll find its just the pipe!

    Hope so mate .

Btw, I'm through in Fife quite often, so the flame thrower option could be a good possibility.......

Cheers for the reply, much appreciated.

Yea there will be due to the pipe. It will recognise that the air flow isn't what it should be, and likely produce those effects.

Check the fault code that your getting, and I would put my money on something to do with the air intake, and volume of air passing through it

I've taken a couple of pictures of the cracked pipe, but I'm at work just now so will post them up tomorrow.

The crack is very extensive and runs both horizontally and vertically on the pipe, almost snapping a huge chunk of it off .

so I'll post them tomorrow guys and you'll see what I mean.

I've read the numbers from the pipe and the part I'm requiring is one of the following:

    55558950
    or
    329788454

Here's a couple of pics of the broken pipe. Can anyone advise how to go about replacing this section of Intake pipe, and how long it might take me or garage costs if it's too difficult?

    Many thanks all:

    Just a quick update.

The part number was correct (5555 number), and the cost was £30 incl vat.

Vauxhall service dept has also quoted me just £15 to replace the pipe for me, so it's booked in for this Friday afternoon.

I'll let you know after replacement if it has cured all the symptoms completely, or I may have to find my pitch fork, light the torch and head over to Fife for some retribution!!!!! lol
