Why do I only hear of Vectra springs snapping?

Just something I have been thinking about for ages and now as I have a suspected broken spring on the B, I cant help but ask.

I have had other makes and models in the past but never have I heard of ot had a spring break on me.

It happened to me in my ex Vectra C SRI CDTI and now I have a suspected broken spring in the B SRI DTI.

Why do only Vauxhall springs break?

Anyone care to shed some light on this?

When I took my wifes Vectra B for it,s MOT. I was talking to the examiner, and he said Ford were as bad too??..

its more of a commonality than you know - i work as a multifranchise regional warranty supervisor and we regularly have failures on

landrover
jaguar
nissan
ford
peugeot
citroen

some of the above manufacturers on certain models have warranty extentions upto 5 years 93-100k miles on springs

others have had recalls to have spring "catchers" fitted to prevent additional damage in the event of a spring failure =but not replacement springs fitted

and yes they have failed on my signum as well

well i used to have a Ford Mondeo and the lads at the forum had the same spring problems too

A friend has just had his front one go on his A3

Had this done on my 51 plate Picasso under a Citroen recall.

I also had a front spring break on a Renault Megane about 7 years ago.

My dad's 75 snapped one in a car park, and both rears have a broken coil.
