    Default Diet's Family Holiday

Well Just come back from the Family holiday to Tunisia

8 Adults and 3 kids in total! for One week of All Inclusive Fun!!

We went with Thomas Cook to the Dar Khayam in Hammamett.

It was 'fun' from the minute we got on the plane!!

I have never ever flown on such a cramped plane before... im only 5 10 and i could not sit straight as my knees would push against the chair in front!!

Our party had paid an extra £12.50 each so we could all be sat together.... this ended up with the 11 of us being split over 4 rows of 6 seats per row!!...

I managed to have a 'chat' with the guy sitting behind me on the place before we even begun to taxi out of stansted.. Our youngest was a lil upset and was crying for a lil bit.. he made various loud comments about children etc etc.. and I told him that his comments were not welcome nor constructive and I too did not want to listen to a screaming baby for the whole flight... he uttered some reply but i didnt realy listen... he did offer a blanket later on in the flight for the kids which was a nice peace offering

We finally got to the hotel at 4am to find Mrs Diet, myself and the two kids had been put in a very small twin room!! with a cot pushed into one corner!! At this point i had enough and went to bed wanting to go home!!

Later that day we changed rooms to something alot more acceptable ( a double with a twin atttached)

We found out that the Air conditioned hotel we had been promised.. was blessed with Air Con..... Fantastic in the mid 30s that we had been expecting esp with my 4 month old lad!!..... Welll...

The Air con does not get switched on till the 15th June!!! Grrrrrr We as a party managed to get 3 out of the 4 rooms air con units working.... (Thanks Dad for your sparky exp!! ) ... But the maids reported it to the reception and the fuses were ripped out a day later!!! so no air con for us!!!

OOOOhhh time for some pics before u all get bored!!

    The Pools..

Right.. now ur not so bored

Gotta say food was pretty good!! Very Repetitive.. but that was to be expected!!

My sister's fella had £40 nicked out of his room by his maid!!.... he only has one leg and he hid the money in one of his fake legs!!! so the women routed for it!! Reception ended up paying out the money as by this time all of us were fuming with the place!!

OOOhhhh... its also the first place ive been too were the childrens entertainment started at 830pm!!! one night the childrens karoke started at 9.15pm!!!

The normal evening entertainment started at around 9.30pm to 10pm... but that was awful... it was pretty much just a disco... but everyone just ended up going to bed!!!

The beach was fantastic ive got to admit...
and it was only a stones throw from the room!!

    Time for some pics!!

unfort though the current was really strong when the wind got up!!

This resulted in several people being pulled out... and 2 people from our hotel died on seperate days during our stay! You really have to feel for their family.

Then we came home.. Lucky considering...

My daughter was seated 3 rows away from any of our party and it was lucky the flight was half empty that we could easily swap..

Overall i was rather unimpressed and will be compiling a complaint letter...

Now im in need of a holiday to get over this!!!

The place itself looks great but it sounds like the the experience wasn't.

I've noticed on the last few flights we've been on, (as a family) that more and more people seem to find it neccesary to kill the holiday spirit on the flight. The last one we were on two families almost came to blows because of arguements over the seats being reclined during the meals.

There was arguments about the reclined seats too (other end of the plane)... i couldnt recline my sit... i just felt it was wrong as there was no room as it was!!

The place was nice ish... but it needs some proper organisiation!

we went on Thomas Cook airlines to Gran Canaria earlier this year and I hear what you're saying about the leg room. Still couldn't bring myself to fork out £40 for my wife and I to sit in the "extra leg room" seats. rip off. Would never fly thomas cook airlines again and doubt I would book another hol through TC, had a much better experience with Thomson and our trip to Florida.

We were left thinking the same.... I'd rather fly with airtours or someone else next time...

TC will be a no go for us unless even with the fee for the extra leg room still makes the flight cheaper.

things didn’t work out to well for you Mr D but with eleven in the party it was always going to be a struggle. I also feel that a ‘package holiday’ is that, a package with little flexibility, you just have to make the best of what you are given as long as it’s as described. I’ll bet the children had fun ……
