    Default new upgraded clocks

    if i put second hand, but better, speedo clocks in my petrol vec 07 reg... will the mileage need re-setting or is it in the ECU and will transfer automatically ?

    it will need resetting. ast milage is stored in the clocks.

    you will need to get a mileage correction company to correct your new clocks £110 iirc

    If you buy new ones I believe that the dealer can tech 2 the new milage to the clocks as long as its done fairly soon after fitting. I think you only have so many miles in which to get them altered before they lock.

    You can get them changed but it costs quite alot, it's not as simple as the dealer plugging in a box, pretty sure it was something to do with the ecu? Could be wrong, I did read another thread on the same subject earlier this year.

    The mileage is actually stored in 2 places ECU iirc and speedo,a mileage correction company can do both chips for £110 if you buy new clocks that have below 50 miles on them (i think its 50)then stealers can adjust them.

    I knew it was something like that, it's not a simple or cheap job that's for sure.
