Default How good is your gear selection?

After much head scratching and peering at the selector bits and wondering why the clutch rattle lessens when you press the clutch pedal in I have to confess that I am stumped...

    Do GM clutches rattle??

Is the Vec C gear change as smooth as a Ford? Or, are they all a bit notchy esp 2nd to 3th and 3rd to 2nd??

    Any thoughts welcomed

Mine is a lot better since having the gear box oil changed. They reduced the amount in the F40 to fix the issue

IMO the Vectra has always suffered from rubbish gear box's. Both my 2.0 DTi Vec B & Vec C where rubbish in the 2nd 3rd and 3rd 2nd change. A few friends always make comments about Vauxhall being able to make good cars, shame about the gear box!!! Plus as said above its worst when cold.

I sometimes have difficulty going from 1st to 2nd at high revs. I slightly crashed it again this morning doing a rapid gear change, and I'd just driven 60 miles.

Other than that, no complaints. 4th to 5th is great with no clutch - just slide it in, oo er

The other odd thing is if you change quickly from 3rd to 2nd the selection is much better than a slow change. From 2nd to 3rd is better quick, but still crunches slightly...
    Clutch pedal fully depressed btw.
    Any ideas chaps...
