Default 1.8 owners, some good news for you guys...

Following in the footsteps of the 3.2 guys, looks like Regals have a nice package for 1.8 owners. How does an increase of 40bhp sound? They're claiming to take you from 120bhp up to 160bhp:

20bhp at very very best including an exhaust and filter. That is just the camshafts and a remap.

    Don't forget plus fitting.

Wonder how 'wild' the cams are?

In 'total vauxhall' regal autosport are offering new software upgrades for a Z18XE to 140bhp for Corsa C, Astra G, Astra H, Vectra B, Zafira, Zafira B and Tigra for £295. Is this the same upgrade? Surely the 1.8i Vectra C must be the same engine (but it is not mentioned)? If so this would be better value than the original link, at ther beginning of the thread.

In the same issue dbilas offer new software upgrade for vectra C (8 ps) for £315!

On a similar topic: anyone know if the 1.8VVT (138bhp) is a totally new engine in the most recent vectra, or whether its a (vauxhall) remap of the 1.8i. (120bhp)

VVT engine is totally new. It has variable valve timing (VVT) which alters the angle and position of the cam to extract more power from the engine, but without suffering bad idle as you can get with aftermarket cam kits.

For instance at idle the cams are in standard position. If you pull away gently and smoothly they will stay in the standard position. If you floor it the cams move around once the car is moving to get into optimal position.

Very effective system first used by Porsche in the early 90's in the Varioram engines. Honda uses it in their VTEC engines as well as Subaru in their boxer engines amongst many other manufacturers.

Beauty is this can create more power, but without sacrificing emmisions which these days rule power output.
