Thread: Lack of Engine Mods for 2.8 V6 T???

    Thumbs up Lack of Engine Mods for 2.8 V6 T???

    Just wondering if anybody out there could enlighten me on where they are hiding all the mods for the 2.8 V6 engine?

    I have a 06 plate signum, and have been looking all over for something to make my car a little throaty without splashing out on a full sports exhaust etc but the market isn't giving me any results.

    I'm after:

    A cone sports filter? I know they do the replacement box filters, but I want something that gives the engine a throaty growl.. Do these do it aswell as the cones?

    A dump valve (A sin i know..). I still want to compete with that subaru chavvy tssss sound! Loads of the guys in my area have focus ST's which fulfil this need. Why not me?? lol

    And anything else that might make it a bit meatier?


    Also.. has anybody gone for the remap? I was tempted, but not sure if it is worth? Plus my 19" tyres have gone down fast driving carefully standard, so might not be wise to the wallet for me to upgrade the power lol.

    Any help would be appreciated

    Remap to 305bhp and Quaife Differential - what more could you ask for....

    Remaps on turbo engines are well worth it. Massive increrases to be had.

    And stop being so aggressive with the bold Red please. Go for a sealed cone like the Piper Viper, you'll still have the induction noise but with the added bonus of cold air. Plenty of good maps out there, I'm sure the better ones don't give full torque in first so a bit of a tyre saver built in. Oh, yea, and dump the dump valve idea IMO

    Hokey Doke, Here we go.

    1. Exhausts are few and far between for the 2.8 there is the Miltek
    Resonated or Non-resonated, ther is the option of the VXR Exhaust
    which is a Remus to start with or a custom exhaust
    (there is plenty of places round the country for this).

    2. Your Filter options are Courtney Motorsports own make or an ITG
    from Thorney, if you want to go down the Cone route only use a
    sealed unit such as the Piper cross Viper as anything else will give
    heat soak and you just lose power.

    3. Dump Valve - Won't work, on other cars it doesn't give extra power
    just a noise, on the 2.8 however you lose power around 15bhp
    roughly because the 2.8 has a re-circ valve setup so that you don't
    have to dump excess boost.

    4. Remap - The 2.8 is one of the easiest engines
    around to get big power from your car is one of two

    230bhp/246lbs torque or 250bhp/258lbs of torque

    and increasing to atleast 295bhp with 400lbs of torque.
    for the measley sum of £400

    this is a GOD thing as he says THY MUST BE DONE.

    I think that the dump valve noise is the ultimate must have for a pimped car, it makes me think now thats a chipped turbo......
