    Default Idea on service costs

    Hi all
Just after some information on services costs as my 56 plate vectra has hit the 42000 mark and insp is showing. im thinking about taking the car to my local vaux dealer in Wakefield as its still under warrenty at the mo.
So if any one has a rough idea of how much a major service costs and what would be carried out as part of the service
    Cheers Craig

This will be the cars second service
Phone up and get a quote
Equally, phone two other dealerships and see what they quote
Price could be anything between £150 and £500, depending on what you want done

It should all be mentioned in the service booklet.

I've just been quoted £143 for an interim service (1st year, 3rd year, 5th year, etc) for my 06 2.2 Vectra. That is an inclusive price for all the standard service items.

Last year at the same garage I paid £258 for a main service, which also included a brake fluid change - which yours should also have as it's a 2yr recommendation change.

Looking at the invoice, I was charged for oil, oil filter, air filter, fuel filter, pollen filter, remote fob battery, brake fluid. I also had a tech2 session which bumped the price up a little bit.

Just looked at your profile, the price may well be different for a 1.9 CDTi.

Hi Murf, I have used the dealer in Wakefield a few times for warranty work only as I got mine serviced at the the non Vauxhall dealer where my oh works. I have never had a simple visit to Wakefield, they have made mistakes every time I have visited and one time took 4 visits to sort a heater motor that I suggested was at fault when I dropped it off. I was quoted about £7.00 for wheel balancing so I asked them to do it when it was in for the DMF and they tried to tell me it was £38.00 per wheel when I picked the car up, after a bit of debate and asking for the dealer principle they realised they were trying to charge me for alignment or similar but would not listen to my reason when we were arguing. The last time it was in I asked for a courtesy car, obviouly I didn't get one so I asked for a lift I was told that the lifts had to be booked and they only gave lifts to WF postcodes, fair enough but I live 4 miles away and some WF postcodes are 15 miles away! sorry but rules are rules so they gave me a lift to the nearest WF postcode and had to walk the other 300 yards!. They have only had my car 2 or 3 times for warranty work but have let me down every time. I would get a few quotes just make sure they meet the warranty requirements (VAT reg?? in line with the service schedule and VX parts)

£150 for a minor and £250 for a major (on a 2lit desiel) seems to be the going rate.

You could make it cheaper by getting the pars from Autovaux and getting a local indy to do it (the £250 major cost me £150 this way) - if the garage is VAT registered then your warranty would not be voided.

My local VX dealership charges £150 plus VAT for a fixed menu service, which covers all services with no extras (oil, oil filter, air filter, pollen filter, fuel filter)
However, this uses the wrong oil, for the correct 5W-30 oil add £40, and if your car needs these parts or not you still pay the same price!
    If you then add :
    brake fluid change from £45
cambelt change between £200 and £350

Alternatively they also offer a VX service, and you pay for EXACTLY what you use
This can be cheaper for the interim service, as there is no air filter, pollen filter, and fuel filter
