I was working on Islay last summer and after work i was in the hotel bar and there was a group of japanese tourist's paying 300 quid a half and putting lemonade into it - i did not know whether to laugh or cry
Laphroaig - horrible stuff - designed for the US market (also known as a golf whisky)
Try Glendronnach, now THAT is a real Malt Whisky, expensive, rare, but worth every £20 sip
Glenfiddich is mediocre, it's designed primarily for the export market
However, look for the silver cases with Gaelic names, as these are only available in Scotland
These have a completely different taste
Start with the Caoran Reserve
