Dealer has just told me the swiril valves in inolet manifold are gone, car is a 2.2 petrol do they have swiril valves cos I though only diesels had the swiril valves. Can any one clarify before I cough up over £400.

yeh petrols have em too but dunno about 2.2 engine. my mates astra 1.6 is forever having issues with his swirl flaps!
My 2.2 Direct Signum needed the inlet manifold replaced last year, the swirl flap motor had failed.
In all, it cost 700 quid, which fortunately my 3rd party warranty covered.
The fix also involved removing the EGR valve and blanking the port on the engine block where it used to have the pipe connected to the manifold.
There's supposed to be an ECU firmware update too to prevent it getting upset about the missing EGR valve.
