Now the car has 3500 miles on it, I decided to head down to the VXR Performance Centre for the 1.9 CDTi re-map yesterday.
Very impressed with the results, since it was done yesterday afternoon I have done about 400 miles down on the south coast and back, so on the way home, I headed off to the rolling road for a power run as the ECU should have 'learned' during the 400 miles covered.
Result.......201.8bhp and 328lb/ft.
I have found now, that to get some rapid road coverage, I need not really go much above 3500rpm where as before 4000-4500rpm was required to get the same performance. It's power delivery is very factory like but on an amplified basis.
There was a question over whether the 19" wheels would take the edge off the performance, but looking at the maths, I don't see this being an issue, if you look at the four Vectra C optional tyre size's below, you will see it is quite interesting.
Tyre Size Over All Diameter
215 50 17" 646.78mm
225 45 18" 659.70mm
235 40 18" (VXR) 645.2mm
235 35 19" 647.08mm
So the 235 35 19" and standard 215 50 17" are pretty much identical where as the optional 18" tyre WILL blunt the performance, maybe the 235 VXR 18" tyre is the way to go.
A couple of pics of the afternoon. With a litle cosmetic under bonnet add on !!!
Also had a little chat with Tom Chilton who was also there, top bloke!!!
