    Anyone on here tried Geocaching?

    a mate in the states does it and I gave it a try for the first time today.

    Can't really see much point to this, as you get a GPS position to go for, and then just follow the GPS.
    Seems a bit basic to me.
    Maybe that's not the point to it all though, and maybe the point is actually to go out together and do the exchanging thing or just sign the visit sheet and talk about the 'experience'..

    yeah I think there is some thought put into where the caches are located and often the location is better than the cache itself. There is one near where I live which is on top of a hill and you get spectacular views across the valley from it. Also, one that particular cache, the GPS location takes you to the top of the hill where there's a sign showing you what the views are and you have to take clues from that sign and work out the actual GPS location of the actual cache. Some of the caches can be as small as a camera film container which even with a GPS location can still take a bit of finding.

    I'm just new to it so we'll see if I get bored of it fast or not. The main thing for me is I need the exercise and this is more exciting that just going for a "walk".
