    Default Servicing schedule?

    Hi guys,

What's the story with the servicing intervals for the Signum..........my car has done 14,000miles and it's being serviced again.........2nd time........I thought 6/7,000mile servicing went out with the ark........can this be changed or do the dealers have a perminant licence to print money?

It depends what service schedule you're on...

EcoFlex = maximum of 20,000 miles/2 years but will vary depending on how the car is driven, types of journeys etc.

EcoService = straightforward 10,000/12 months service.

Depending on the year, they dropped ECOFlex on newer cars and just have the regular 12 months/20,000 (30,000 diesel) schedule.

You'll know if you're on ECOFlex by a simple test. With ignition off, press your trip reset button by the odometer. If a mileage numer pops up on the display then you're on ECOFlex.

Do a search for ECOFlex on the forum as well, you'll find loads of past threads.

how come they dropped the EcoFlex? my car is essentially the same as pre-facelift, so why cant mine go for 2 years if I want? Does this suggest the EcoFlex is a bad idea?

Well, I wouldn't want the same oil in my engine for two years personally, but I think Vx realised it was just rather complicated having the ECOFlex. The whole point of it was to attract the fleet buyers to it's 'prolonged' service interval.

I like the idea of ECOFlex, and my car is still on it, as it will be serviced at intervals depending on how I drive the car. But it gets interim oil changes as I don't want the same oil in for even 20,000 miles, let alone two years.

If yours is facelift it's going to be on ECOService - straight forward 12 months/20,000 miles (30,000 diesel). It won't have an option to go to ECOFlex.

nope its not in the service book. just seemed strange that they would drop something that attracts folk - but then looking at other attractions they have dropped it doesnt surprise me!

Yep, it was a popular 'ploy' by dealers. The ECOFlex was attractive to fleets for the running costs, but not to dealers as they would have potentially less visits from owners. All cars left the factory on ECOFlex, but a lot of dealers then Tech 2'd them to ECOService.

My ex-demonstrator was on ECOService when I got it until I did the same as you Tommy, and got it switched at a point that matched up with a service.

Well that's the car dropped off for it's second service in 2years........£175 down the drain.........as far I can see in this day and age it would be perfectly OK to have a service every 2 years with an oil change, or even a lubrication servcie inbetween........and here I'm thinking about the general user like me not the company car guys..........a servcie every 6,ooomiles or so is completely OTT for me ........just an opinion though eh
