Default Shopped Around & Saved Over 50% At Main Stealers

Having only got one key with my car I decided yesterday to get a new one - Could not be bothered with fleabay and the uncertainty regards pairing and unpairing plus I needed a new blade anyway.

Enter my local main stealer in Leeds, Evans Halshaw, Hunslet. They quoted me £55 + VAT for the complete key and £85.00 to code it to the car.

I also did not have the security card, but a quick call to Pendragon in Derby (the supplying dealer back in 2003) and with no fuss I had the key # and immobiliser # - Big Thanks Pendragon

I made an appointment for today then decided to do some research. I discovered Vx have the job down as 0.3 hours then decided to call some other dealers - JCT600 quoted £66.50 for the programming (same for the key). I then called another local Evans Halshaw dealer and was quoted £40.00 for the programming (same again for the key).

As you can imagine I was fuming by now and rang the original dealer back and asked them to explain why the felt the need to have my pants down. "That's what we charge - Its for an hour" they said - "What for a 20 minute job - You are having a giraffe. Cancel by booking" I replied. "Well if you tell me who quoted you the £40.00 I will price match it once I have spoken to my manager" I nearly told them not to bother as the damage was done, but Leeds is nearer to me so I let them.

Needless to say the paperwork had not been changed when I got there this morning, but the guy took my word for it when I told him who I had spoken to.

Original Quote - £161.00 inc VAT
    Final Quote - £109.25

So there you go. Compare Vx dealer prices as well as meerkats and save some cash

i did the same with my stealer, played them off against Evans halshaw when i needed my cam belt done. got about £70 off the qoute. Also my MOT is due & the dealers sent a reminder (not that they have ever MOT'd my car), they also phoned to remind me & i asked for a price which was about £57, i said it doesn't matter as i can it cheaper through the AA as i'm a member. there instant reply was 'we will price match & that will be £35.' in my mind i thought i aint even told you how much i can get it done for & how many times have i been ripped off. just goes to show thier prices arent fixed..
