Angry Not a very successful visit to Vauxhall...

I've had an oil leak for a few months on my car, which I've known was coming from my sump plug. From memory I don't remember it having a washer fitted, as I've changed the oil myself the last 3 times but never had an issue. Every now and then the oil level warning light would come on:

...so I'd top it up and carry on. The reason for not doing something about it was due to my not having most of my tools with me at the moment (moving from North Scotland to Oxfordshire in a couple of months so have given my parents most of the stuff I own to look after...) and decided I could risk a few months without them. Fitting the washer would basically require and oil change, so I thought I'd leave it till I got my tools as it was only doing it when the engine was warm and it was a few drips an hour.

After it came on again today I decided to just bite the bullet and get Vauxhall to do it, having an oil change at the same time and (seeing as I'd jsut been paid...) get them to activate my headlight washers which have been waiting for a tech2 session since I fitted them at xmas...

They did the oil change and fitted the washer without issues, but the (rather condescending...) technician started telling me that even with the relay and engine bay wiring already fitted there was the chance they couldn't activate them if the wiring from the light switch to the engine bay wasn't there etc, and did I still want to go ahead, as they'd charge me 40 squid for the pleasure whether it worked or not. I said yes, but then he came back a few minutes later to say he needed the car ID number from the card (which is with all my paperwork in my drawer...) to even get in to the system...

Without that there was nothing they could do, so I left it at that and had a chuckle as the commented on how they'd tried to fill up my washer bottle but it was just leaking everywhere out of the headlight washers(probably because the pump has never been activated and it just flows straight through it...)

Went to pay for my oil change, and almost collapsed at the price...

    £83.09

Apparently using fully synthetic oil puts the price up quite a bit...

So, I think I'll be trying to piggy-back my headlamp washer pump onto the winscreen pump as all it needs is the 12V feed and an earth...

The oil for mine was 45 quid, and it's keeping it the same as what I'd been using previously, but it was still a kick in the nuts...

If I can buy 6 litres of 0W-40 Mobil1 from Halfords for £50, imagine how much cheaper the dealership get their oil for, given the volume they use in a month!
