    Default 2.2 Engine mods

I've read quite a few posts about the 2.2 engine (or most none turbo petrol engines) being hard to get any extra power out of.

Anyone know of any mods which can be done to increase power, i've already got a k&n panel filter, airbox mod and vxr intake and its not done a massive amount to be fair.

what else can i do for abit of extra bhp?

I would just save your money for a faster car. You're not going to do much without spending thousands.

To be fair mate, unless you want to throw £1000 at it your not going to get massive gains out of it in the Vec C. You have to option of fitting a 2.4 inlet manifold, this has larger runners so gives you more at the top end but unless your going to fit a better zorst manifold your going to lose a bit it the low end in in such a heavy car that's maybe not really a good thing. Its a long stroked 2.0 so from design its never going to be spritely, but begin to shine higher up the rev range. Shortening the intake pipe as you've done with the VXR may have actually made a small dint in your performance to be honest, each engines intake is tuned, its long for a reason, id imagine you may have lost a very small amount of low down torque. Its easier to play with things like that on the 2.2 VX220 as there's far more room and them guys find a longer intake is deffo the way to go.

I'd take a look thought Vids threads, he has the most tuned 2.2 on here, in fact probably the most tuned Vectra on the forum. His mods include Comp Cams, 2.4 inlet manifold and 2.0 SC throttle body all imported from the US, Dbilas zorst manifold with sports cat and custom MIJ exhaust. As you can see all those mods involve breathing which is the big restriction on the 2.2. If I remember rightly he was never that happy with it as nothing was tied together with a Map, not that he looked, but there wasn't anything out there at the time that covered all bases.

There's guys running 250 ish bhp but there not on the Vectra C as were restricted by the Canbus system and the relativity small amount of movement in the Stock ECU and fitting a Stand alone is not an option again down to the canbus.

My advice, get a custom Zorst, if you have the funds get a zorst manifold, there is a thread on z22se at the moment for a piper custom job for £200 but you'll need a sports cat as our stock manifold also holds the cat and get it mapped to give you more drivability and leave it at that, anything more and your just throwing your money away. Hope that helps.

As Big Dave said get yourself on z22se.co.uk, I thank Dose and Mark for there recommendation but I only know what I do from reading up over there.
