    Default DPT tuning box

Hi - has anyone any experience of using the DPT tuning box from http://www.dieselpowertuning.co.uk/ ???

Was in my local MOT garage yesterday and saw leaflets for this, the guy told me they were £295 for the Vectra 150 and you can switch it between cars / have different maps loaded onto it.

I'm interested in the whole idea of a remap, but this is where it all gets a bit confusing. Am I right in saying that the best option is to get a good tuner to do a "live" remap? ie. your ECU has a bespoke map on it, NOT some box that you plug in that has a different map on it which is not unique to your car - which is 99.9% of them??? BSR, Regal, DPT etc. and probably dozens of others.

Everyone seems to have an opinion on these as to whether how good they are or how they will ultimately break your engine. Do any of these suppliers provide a serious long term report as to whether they might have a detrimental affect on the engine?

I find my CDTi ok, yeh the torque is nice but it's such a narrow power band. I suppose though one answer is if you want more power then go buy a different car!!

remaps are usually bettertunin box's can result in lots of problems like over boosting if not set correct....very fine settings and takes a bit of playing around to get it right.....remaps are simple and never need changed unless you want more bhp or torque
