    Default Storing Tyres and Wheels

Got a bargain on ebay a few weeks ago for my V50

4 x 17" Sculptor Alloy Wheels fitted with Continental Sport Contact 2 Tyres with 7mm all round.

Question is, as I won't need to use them for another 6-9 months ...

Would storing in the shed on their sides in a stack be the best way to store these?

    Any other suggestions ...

    Thanks

Wax the wheels up well, dont leave the polish on though, stack them and cover with a blanket, got the good weather coming so they should be ok for the peroid you state.

It`s a funny thing, I had winter alloys on my old car and stored my good ones in the shed, stacked with a piece of cardboard between them, then covered in a sheet.

When I retreived them in the spring the tyres had cracked, yet if they had been on the car they wouldn`t have ??

Whats that all about then ?

That can happen I'm afraid, cant really offer an explaination for it other than the rubber dries out and degrades.

    Deflating them might prevent it.

Tyres getting cold and never ever warmed up/flexed by being on the car and driven? Just a theory.

    Well,

Like I said, I've now got them stacked and covered by an old duvet cover in my shed, the alloys are superb and are ready for mounting.

I've got 4mm on my tyres and get through about 2mm in 12 months (pirelli P7)... I figure that I will change my alloys and tyres in about 6-9 months time.

2mm in 12 months? Damn. I've used 8mm of my Bridgestones in 8 months (11k).
