Default has anyone actually had an ECU blow in a dti ??

    Hi folks. I'm confused .
it seems all threads that talk about "trying to tune the oh so difficult dti" unit seem to imply that they blow up more often than a paranoid puffa fish !!!!!
But I have searched and cant find a real story of it happening anywhere on this site. however there appears to be lots of people who've heard about it- probably from some bloke in the pub who pays loads of road tax cos he drives a cdti
I'm just getting a bit concerned now. I;ve had my dti mapped a year-ish ago. done 20k since without any problems yet touch wood .

so the question is- How many of you have actually had an ECU blow on a DTI unit, whether due to tuning or just from wear and tear??

    I'm all ears- literally

    Vehicle : Opel Signum

    Trim : Sport

    Engine : 3.0 CDTI

    Year : 12/03

It's ECU on the fuel pump that fails, and that's just from wear and tear caused by vibrations
I had 3 DTi's, still have one in fact, and none has had a problem with the ECU

    thanks fellas,

thats a positive start!! I thought as much really. A grease monkey who works for formula 1
(I know they're robbers- but they price matched a tyre for me recently- and I had knocked 8 quid off the best price I'd been quoted elsewhere ) -

..any way he said his cousin has a garage in luton that only works on vectra c taxi's. he said he'd never heard his cousin mention of an ecu going!!
Also said his dads a taxi driver and his vec has clocked 400k and no ecu probs. Though had to replace a clutch and dmf which cost about the same as it costs an MP to clean his moate

but I'm not getting cocky yet!! I'll wait till we've had some more replies before i start that!!!!!!

What the guy told me from Angel Tuning is that my ECU was not made by vauxhall, after vauxhall originally use up their quota, they then tender for more parts and generally take the cheapest, mine was one of the cheaper ECU inserted in the car, hence why it has _CAN after the long serial number, you wount know you have one unless you try to get it mapped and they cant

What does an MP pay. At the last check we paid.

Just in a cynical mood. I apologise
