Default How to Definitely NOT De-Badge Your Car!

Well... what can I say! If it was going to happen to anyone it would happen to me!

De-Badges the chrome letters... looked very nice.

Went to de-badge the griffin and all was well... to start with then I realised it's taken off the paint!

The badge hasn't been stuck on with the pads it's been stuck on with sealant or super glue or something!

So... hows the best way to fix my bodge please! Are halfords as good as they say or is this a total respray job? lol!

Stick a new badge on there to hide the damage.

Lol I was thinking that but I'll have to do something with the paint or it will eventually start rusting.

I like it de-badged too put if I stuck the griffin back on I'll be wanting to stick the letters back on too.

Put some lacquer on it, even nail varnish if you want. then put the badge back on. That's going to be a full boot panel respray mate.

    sorry to hear this matey.
Definately easier option would be to replace the badge, looks as though its only through to undercoat or is that the actual shiny metal we are seeing, in which case AYS it will need to be touched up first.
Only realistic option I would have thought. I dont think I'd fancy having to have it all resprayed.

I bet you were absolutely gutted when you saw it..

Last time I debadged a car I used s strong nylon fishing line to work my way down the back of the badges, then a quick clean up with isopropyl to remove any residue.

Though I did have a similar mishap to you a few years ago due to some overly strong masking tape during a small sprayup job which pulled the paint off when it was removed.

How much did that cost mate or how much did he charge? So I can get a rough guess of what it might be!

I'm probably going to buy a touchup pen, stick it over the mess and then stick another badge back on if it's anywhere near or over £100 to get it done!
