Default Fitted a sports button today and....

discovered that I have the plug for it behind the dash so it lights up with the headlight switch (Doesn't do anything though)

    It got me thinking.....

I have a 58 plate SRI with every option possible apart from sports mode. I know to have sports mode, you needed to have ESP+ which mine has so does that mean I have the correct ECU for IDS+??

Would I be able to buy the bits needed to retrofit the sports mode over time and gradually turn them on? So for instance, if I got whatever was needed for the sharper throttle response and had the car tech2'd, would it work?

If bits of the loom were missing, could they be connected?

Could someone with IDS+ on their car show me what plugs to look for in the engine bay so I could see if they have been installed on mine?

    Thanks, Rich

This is a very big and complicated job. I've looked into doing this myself. You need to go to lengths of new steering rack, new cim controller, complete IDS suspension changeover, your abs ECU should be ok though. Need Yaw and Pitch rate sensors, wiring looms for these plus other stuff.

The reason you have the plugs in the dash, is that all Vectra C and Signums have the same dash loom. But not the loom in the main body.

Dean (Plasma) has sumed it all up in his post, but a guy I know priced it up, and 'IF' it could be done, your looking over £5000 worth or parts to begin with. Tha main body loom will have to be changed as well.

    It turns it into a 4.8 V8 with 450bhp!

I think so, does it not do something to the suspension or handling somehow too ?

I've had a couple of courtesy Astras with the sports switch. The only thing it seemed to do was make the throttle be on full at about 50% of the pedal travel, instead of actually at the floor.

I think it needs to be a Sports++ button for the 450bhp option.

Jeez £5k for IDS+ retro fitted.... Glad I ordered it on my car with ESP+ then..
Sports mode is great, sharper throttle and steering response & cdc shocks that really do make a difference...
